Fr Bernard Gordon is the Parish Priest of Lumen Christi Catholic Parish and Dean of St Francis Xavier Cathedral, Wollongong. He also continues to serve as the Vicar General of the Diocese of Wollongong.

Born and raised in the Illawarra, Fr Bernard completed his schooling at Edmund Rice College, and commenced formation for the priesthood at St Patrick’s Seminary, Manly. He was ordained a Deacon in 1993 and a Priest in 1994 by Bishop William Murray.

Fr Bernard holds a Bachelor of Theology, a Bachelor of Sacred Theology, and a Licentiate in Spiritual Theology from the Pontifical University of St Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum), Rome. He is currently completing a PhD at the University of Notre Dame, Sydney, with research focused on affectivity in seminary formation.

His priestly ministry has included appointments across the Diocese as Assistant Priest in Nowra and Bulli, Parish Priest in Picton and Administrator of The Oaks, and Director of First Year Seminarians at the Seminary of the Good Shepherd in Homebush.

In September 2018, Fr Bernard was appointed Vicar General, and then in November 2018 Administrator of Lumen Christi Parishes. In September 2025, Bishop Brian Mascord appointed him as Parish Priest of Lumen Christi Parish and Dean of St Francis Xavier Cathedral, recognising his outstanding leadership and pastoral care.

Fr Bernard also serves as the Principal Advisor to the Council of Priests and College of Consultors. He is a published author and respected theological voice, with works on St Teresa of Avila, St Joseph, and St Thomas Aquinas.

He is committed to nurturing the life of the Church through faithful liturgy, pastoral presence, and building up a parish that reveals the Light of Christ to the world.
