Holy Week and Easter
Holy Week is regarded as the most sacred week in the Church Year. The last three days of the week (Holy Thursday, Good Friday & Holy Saturday) constitute an inner sanctuary known as the Triduum (3 days) - these three services: The Mass of the Lord's Supper (Holy Thursday night), the Solemn Commemoration of the Lord's Passion (Good Friday afternoon) and the Easter Vigil (Holy Saturday night) are celebrated as a single, continuous liturgy. In the early centuries Holy Week was known as the Great Week or Passion Week.
Our participation in the Liturgy of Holy Week is both a wonderful privilege, and our Christian responsibility.
